Cheryl DeSantis is Chief People & Diversity Officer at SmileDirectClub, the fast growing telehealth pioneer that disrupted the 120-year-old, $12 billion orthodontics industry. With more than 20 years of experience in strategic people and organizational development, Cheryl enables the growth of the business through its team members, striving to maintain SmileDirectClub’s strong company culture through values-based leadership. Cheryl has global oversight of talent acquisition, compensation and benefits team member relations and engagement, business partnership, and learning and development forSmileDirectClub’s business across the globe.

She also leads the expansion of SmileDirectClub’s international internal organizational structure and framework. Cheryl’s ability to provide agile and innovative solutions enabled SDC to grow with a business-focused approach that fueled our fast paced growth yet brought a team member centric approach to delivering world class HR programs. This work helped enable Smile Direct Club to receive numerous awards including SDC is #11 on Financial Times’ 2021 list of the Fastest Growing Companies in the US. Cheryl is a global thought leader on defining the future of work at SmileDirectClub–a company whose entire business model is based on the belief that virtual connections can be as effective as those in person. She is leading the organization’s navigation through its recent progressive embrace of remote and flexible work for good by harnessing the latest technology to keep the team connected, engaged, and motivated.

Cheryl has long advocated for inclusion, diversity and belonging, believing that an environment based on empathy, compassion and enabling all to bring their full selves to work will drive hard dollar results. She writes frequently about courageous leadership, vulnerability and changing the leadership dynamic to be one based in heart-centered and compassionate principles. Before joining SmileDirectClub, Cheryl acted as Vice President of People and Organization at Mars Petcare, leading enterprise-wide Human Resources programs and policies serving 4,000 employees across the globe. She also was the VP of P&O at the global headquarters in McLean, Va, working with the C-Suite executives on their talent, engagement and culture agenda. Through her 13+ years of work at Mars, she led benefits and global HR communications, corporate HR initiatives, and long-term people and organizational strategy for several divisions of the business. She was at the forefront of the employer brand work at Mars, and also led the cultural integration withThe Wrigley Company when they were acquired in 2008.Throughout her career, Cheryl has held positions across many different industries, disruptive and established businesses, including manufacturing, telecommunications, professional services, e-commerce, and consulting. Prior to working in the HR field,Cheryl worked in advertising and communications, working on such notable campaigns.
